Nature in Moita Longa
Featuring great landscapes and floral richness, the Quinta is listed a place of national heritage. In this area, many samples of vegetation closely related to the most primitive oak forests can be observed along with a real array of river valley plants and trees.

It is a truly exceptional spot. Situated in an enclosed part of the river Toxofal, the Quinta still hosts one of the most diverse bird communities in Portugal.

A quick botanical inventory will note the following species: primitive oak, cork-oak, gorse (Ulex/Genista), myrtle, broom heather, mastic tree, ivy (Hedera canariensis), dogwood hedge, (Rhamnus alaternus), arbutus tree, honeysuckle (Lonicera periclymenum), white heather (Erica arborea). Next to the river grows a dense wooded curtain of great and old trees, from which stand out the bay laurel, elm, chestnut (Castanea satina), poplar, willow (Salix sp.), and oak (Quercus faginea).
